LDL. 💔 “She has only a 3% chance of relapse…” — a mother’s words are bringing the world to tears.
Statesville, North Carolina — The motorsport world and beyond are reeling from an unimaginable tragedy: NASCAR icon Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma (14), son Ryder (5), and three others perished in a devastating plane crash on December 18, 2025, at Statesville Regional Airport.

The private Cessna Citation II (C550), owned by Biffle’s company, took off at 10:06 a.m. en route to a Christmas vacation in the Bahamas. Just minutes into the flight, the aircraft attempted an emergency return due to unknown issues — possibly poor weather with low clouds and light rain.
It overshot the runway, crashed, and erupted in flames. All seven aboard — including longtime NASCAR figures Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and his son Jack — lost their lives.
Greg Biffle, 55, was more than a champion. Known as “The Biff,” he claimed 19 Cup Series victories, the 2000 Truck Series title, and the 2002 Xfinity Series championship. Named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers, his competitive fire defined an era.

But off the track, Biffle’s legacy shone even brighter. After Hurricane Helene devastated North Carolina in 2024, he piloted his helicopter on hundreds of mercy missions, delivering supplies to isolated mountain communities and saving countless lives.
This heroism earned him NASCAR’s Myers Brothers Award — recognition for contributions beyond racing.
At the heart of Biffle’s life was his family: devoted wife Cristina, joyful daughter Emma, and curious young son Ryder. They were his greatest joy, the reason behind his smile in every victory lane photo.

Tributes poured in immediately. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein: “Greg lived a life of courage and compassion. He saved many after Helene. My heart goes out to all who lost loved ones.”
NASCAR’s statement: “We are devastated by the loss of Greg Biffle, Cristina, Emma, Ryder, Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton. Greg was not just a champion — he was a friend, father, and hero to our community.”
Jeff Gordon: “Devastating. I had tremendous respect for Greg as a driver… and was inspired by his tireless relief work.”
The NTSB is investigating, with a team on site. The airport remains closed.

Today, America grieves not just a racer, but a man who raced through life with kindness, bravery, and love. Greg Biffle didn’t just win races — he won hearts.
Rest in peace, Greg, Cristina, Emma, Ryder, and friends. Your light will forever guide us.
The racing community and fans worldwide send endless prayers to the families. 🏁❤️🙏
