Today was one of those days that fills your heart in a way words can barely capture.
Some very special visitors came through St. Jude today — some of the Oklahoma City Thunder players were visiting campus— and since Miller couldn’t leave the PICU to attend the meet & greet, some sweet friends and the incredible team here worked behind the scenes to make something amazing happen. Isaiah Joe and Jaylin Williams (aka J-Will) were able to come upstairs and spend time with Miller!
And when I tell you these guys were cool… they were genuinely, incredibly cool. They hung out with Miller, asked all about his LEGO army, talked a little about his love for the Oklahoma Sooners (even though they’re Arkansas guys 
), so we all agreed to just keep it Oklahoma City Thunder. They listened to him talk about his YouTube channel, joked with him, and were so humble and kind. We are so appreciative of the moment. No rush. No ego. Just two guys showing up fully for a kid who needed it.
The biggest takeaway for me? I got to watch my son light up from the inside out.
Five weeks ago today, we arrived in the PICU at St. Jude. Within days, I was told to bring my family here to say goodbye to Miller. That reality is never far from my mind. It’s not lost on me how close we were to losing him. I wouldn’t wish that fear on anyone — it’s excruciating, terrifying really.
But slowly — and especially this week — I’ve watched Miller start to come back. He’s moving more. He stood up today for two full minutes unassisted. He’s eating more, drinking more calories, getting stronger, and doing the hard work required to keep going… to wage another war and fight for his life once again. And he is absolutely incredible.
So if a couple of NBA players can walk into a PICU room and make his whole day brighter? He deserves that — over and over again.
Our deepest thanks to everyone who made today possible. Moments like this matter more than you’ll ever know. We are endlessly grateful.
