TST. BREAKING: HE WASN’T SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE — BUT A MIRACLE CHANGED EVERYTHING
A Louisiana lineman is showing encouraging signs of recovery after suffering a severe electric shock while working in dangerous ice storm conditions earlier this week. Hunter Alexander, a 24-year-old Entergy lineman, is now off a ventilator and able to speak from his hospital room in Shreveport—a milestone his family says felt impossible just days ago.

The incident happened near Jonesboro, Louisiana, where Hunter was part of a crew repairing power lines damaged by a powerful ice storm. While performing the repairs, Hunter was seriously injured after coming into contact with electricity, leaving him in critical condition. Emergency responders rushed him to a hospital in Ruston as doctors worked urgently to stabilize him.
According to his father, Daren Alexander, it quickly became clear that Hunter needed more advanced care than the Ruston facility could provide. Doctors determined he required treatment at a specialized burn unit in Shreveport, prompting an emergency airlift. Time was critical, and every minute mattered.
However, the same ice storm that caused the damage Hunter was repairing nearly prevented the life-saving transfer. Icy conditions made it unsafe for a medical helicopter to land at the hospital. What followed, Daren says, was an extraordinary display of teamwork and determination.
Employees and volunteers at Northern Louisiana Medical Center, along with City of Ruston workers, sprang into action. Despite the freezing conditions, they worked quickly to clear a safe landing area in the hospital parking lot. Their efforts allowed the helicopter to touch down and transport Hunter to Shreveport, where he could receive the specialized care he urgently needed.
Once at the burn unit, Hunter underwent fasciotomy surgery, a critical procedure used to relieve pressure and improve blood flow in his arms following severe injury. Doctors explained that the surgery was necessary to prevent further complications and preserve function in his limbs.
Just two days after the accident, Hunter’s condition has improved enough that he no longer requires a ventilator and is able to talk—an outcome that has brought immense relief to his family and loved ones.
Daren Alexander says he is overwhelmingly grateful to everyone who played a role in saving his son’s life, from the medical teams to the volunteers and city employees who refused to let the weather stand in the way. “So many people came together when it mattered most,” he said. “We can never thank them enough.”
Hunter’s recovery is still ongoing, and doctors say he faces a long road ahead. But for now, his family is holding on to hope and gratitude, encouraged by each small step forward.
They are asking the community to continue keeping Hunter Alexander in their thoughts and prayers as he continues to heal—an emotional reminder of both the dangers faced by utility workers and the power of compassion and teamwork in moments of crisis. 🙏
