sz. Update for Friday, January 2

Today’s team meeting went very much as we expected — a mix of gratitude, cautious optimism, and ongoing uncertainty.
The biggest positive news is that Pryce’s lungs continue to show real signs of healing. The medical team is pleased with the progress they’ve seen so far, enough that they were able to turn the ventilator down even more. Because of that, Pryce is being allowed to be a little more awake — as long as he remains comfortable. Seeing those small but meaningful steps forward brings a sense of relief that’s hard to put into words.
Today, during one of his more alert moments, Pryce asked to listen to @unspeakable on YouTube. It’s something that has become a familiar comfort during hospital stays, and watching him respond to something so normal reminded us that he’s still very much him. Those little glimpses of personality mean everything when so much feels out of our control.

Another encouraging development is that the team believes Pryce may be at a point where we can attempt taking him off 24/7 dialysis. Hearing that was a huge boost to our spirits. Dialysis has been such a constant part of this journey, so even the possibility of stepping away from it — even temporarily — feels like a meaningful milestone. Of course, it will be approached carefully, and his body will guide every decision, but it’s hopeful news nonetheless.
That said, this journey is far from simple.
Right now, the most concerning issue remains Pryce’s bladder and ongoing bleeding. Unfortunately, this is the area where the team feels the most limited. There isn’t a clear or easy solution, and that uncertainty weighs heavily. While his lungs are improving and other systems are stabilizing, this complication continues to be the biggest obstacle standing in the way of more consistent progress.

There are still many conversations happening behind the scenes. Specialists from different areas are actively consulting, reviewing options, and discussing potential next steps. We are holding space for the possibility that new ideas or approaches may emerge — ones that haven’t been considered yet. For now, we wait, we listen, and we trust the process, even when answers don’t come as quickly as we hope.
Emotionally, days like today are complicated. It’s a strange place to be — grateful for progress, encouraged by signs of healing, yet deeply aware of the challenges that remain. We are learning to celebrate every small win while also preparing our hearts for the unknowns that come with critical care.
Through it all, your prayers, messages, and support continue to carry us. We feel them more than you know.
Prayer Requests
- Please praise God for the healing taking place in Pryce’s lungs.
- Praise that Pryce is comfortable and able to be more awake.
- Continue praying that the antibiotics fully clear any infections before they can cause complications.
- Continue praying for the bleeding to stop completely.
- Continue praying for wisdom, clarity, and discernment for the medical team — and for us as we walk alongside every decision.
Thank you for standing with us, believing with us, and loving Pryce so fiercely.
