SX “A F***ing Real One”: Amanda Seyfried Is Being Praised For “Not Backing Down” As She Reflected On “Being Bashed For Denouncing Racism” After Charlie Kirk’s Death

On an Instagram reel that compiled some of Charlie’s offensive quotes about Black women, immigrants, and transgender people, among other topics, Amanda wrote: “He was hateful.”

And when she was chastised for speaking negatively about Charlie so soon after his death, Amanda clarified her stance in a longer statement that was posted to her Instagram page. She wrote: “We are forgetting the nuance of humanity. I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?”

Earlier this month, Amanda was praised when she doubled down on her comments in an interview with Who What Wear, where she said: “I’m not fucking apologizing.”

“I mean, for fuck’s sake, I commented on one thing,” she added at the time. “I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course.” Amanda also reflected on her decision to post the longer message at the time, explaining: “I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized — which is what people do, of course.”

And now, Amanda has won support once again after she reflected on how she was “bashed for denouncing racism,” as she compared her Instagram comment to President Donald Trump’s controversial post following the tragic death of Rob and Michele Reiner on Dec. 14.

If you need reminding, esteemed Hollywood director and actor Rob and his wife Michele were found dead in an apparent homicide. Two days later, their youngest son, Nick Reiner, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Rob was an outspoken political activist throughout his career, and regularly spoke out against Trump, saying in September: “It’s really gotten to a very, very scary place in this country, and we’re going to have to figure out how to dig ourselves out of this before it’s too long. But we have got to keep speaking out. Everybody has to keep speaking out.”

One day after news of the devastating deaths broke, Trump sparked shockwaves when he took to his platform, Truth Social, and described Rob as a “tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star.” Trump added that the couple died “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

And in a recent interview with The Knock Turnal, Amanda said: “To get bashed for saying the truth and for denouncing racism, to get bashed for denouncing racism, and then to read what the president of the United States is saying about a tragic fucking homicide of an incredible man and his wife…”

“These two incredible people who are just for the greater good, fighting for the fucking greater good, and seeing that being… I don’t even… it’s unbelievable how backwards things can feel,” Amanda went on. “Yet there are so many people that aren’t bots behind a computer screen that aren’t just there to comment. Who are actually actively working to bring back some semblance of peace and goodwill… There are so many of us who just want to feel like there’s some kind of connection that we can make together to each other.”

And Amanda’s openness and willingness to discuss her Charlie Kirk comments as well as Trump while promoting her new movie, The Housemaid, has been praised on social media, with one Reddit user pointing out: “Lot of actor/actress avoid sensitive topics while there are in their promo tour.”
