STT. Update on Jaxen: Family faces heartbreaking decision as cancer continues to progress

This article is really difficult to share.

The difficulty lies not in a lack of words, but in the fact that it touches upon the deepest pain of a family facing something nobody wished for.

Although the goal of this page has always been to deliver positive news, the writer still feels a responsibility to share very real stories about the people in their Facebook family.

Over the past few months, many people have followed the journey of 10-year-old Jaxen, from Pinson, Alabama.

Jaxen is a child with autism and is unable to communicate verbally.

You are an amazing boy, who fought with all his might in the toughest battle of his life.

Jaxen is battling adrenal cancer, which has metastasized to his brain, eyes, and groin.

I don’t have much time left.

Jaxen is currently receiving care at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama.

His mother, Randa McCall, understood that her son was approaching the final moments of his life.

Even in her grief, she still wanted to express her gratitude to everyone.

Life at home is incredibly difficult.

Randa shared that the donations from the community would help her cover the funeral expenses for her son.

The night before, Randa had sent a very touching message.

It was heartbreaking, but also full of strength.

And above all, it possesses a deeply humane beauty.

She wrote that Jaxen’s condition had worsened.

Her eyes were swollen and gradually turning dark.

My groin area is swollen, bigger than a grapefruit.

That’s not an infection.

It’s cancer causing severe swelling in the pelvic area.

Jaxen’s pain remains very difficult to control.

The cancer seemed to devour every unit of blood transfused into her body.

Jaxen received a blood transfusion on Monday, but needs another one today.

The doctors said that at this point, the family only had two options.

One option is to continue blood transfusions, allowing the disease to continue destroying her body.

Second, stop the blood transfusion.

They said stopping the blood transfusion might be the least painful way for Jaxen to die.

That would be like your body slowly shutting down.

I will fall asleep.

And then, you will awaken in the arms of your Creator.

Randa shared that the pain in her heart was so intense that she could feel it physically.

Her doctor was concerned that her heart might react more severely than it did when she lost her brother.

She said she would bring her daughter Jozlynn and son Josiah to the hospital to see Jaxen.

The children will get to say goodbye to their older brother.

This will be the first time in their lives that these children have to face death.

They are in desperate need of prayers.

They were sad and quiet.

They are not eating enough.

They couldn’t sleep.

This tragedy is having a profound impact on the entire family.

Randa said that all she hoped was for Jaxen to no longer have to suffer.

She told her children that when Jaxen went to heaven, their brother would become perfect.

There will be no more cancer.

No more pain.

Jaxen will be able to walk and run.

And most importantly, you will have a voice.

Randa expressed her gratitude for the continued interest and posts about Jaxen.

She said she couldn’t express how much it meant to her.

Without that support, she wouldn’t be able to fully focus on Jaxen and his transition journey.

The prayers of the community have brought immense encouragement to her family.

They help her focus on what matters most in each moment.

Randa shared that she knew she would be able to provide her son with a decent funeral.

Because if she couldn’t do anything else, at least she could do it for her child.

She repeatedly expressed her sincere gratitude to the person who helped spread Jaxen’s story.

She said that he and his followers had become a blessing on the final leg of this journey.

The writer would like to thank Randa for sharing those touching words.

As mentioned from the beginning, this is a very difficult piece of writing.

But it is absolutely essential that Randa’s thoughts and feelings are heard.

Hopefully, these prayers will bring comfort to Jaxen.

May we all bring peace and love to this sweet 10-year-old boy.
