STT. Tragedy Strikes Austin: Three Lives Lost in a Devastating Mass Shooting at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden
On Sunday morning in Austin, Texas, a mass shooting shocked the community, leaving three people dead, including two college students and an MMA fighter from Minnesota.
This is a heartbreaking tragedy that the families and friends of the victims will never forget.

Ryder Harrington, a 19-year-old student at Texas Tech University, was one of those killed in the shooting.
He was known as a likeable, talented, and cheerful young man.
Reed, Ryder’s brother, wrote emotionally on Facebook: “I love you more than you’ll ever know.”
No matter how much you grow up or how much taller you are than me, you will always be my little brother.”
These words tore at his brother’s heart, as Reed spoke of the unbearable grief following Ryder’s sudden death.
“I don’t think life will ever go back to normal,” Reed continued.
“I don’t know what to do, but I know you’ll always be there to guide me and be my teacher.”
Reed also shared that Ryder was the “best older brother” he could ever ask for.

Ryder’s sister, Reagan, also couldn’t hold back her tears when remembering her beloved brother.
She wrote on Instagram: “I will never be the same again, and no relationship can compare to ours.”
Reagan recalled the wonderful moments the two brothers shared, the conversations, the secrets that only the two of them knew.
“I don’t know how to get through this — all I can think about is seeing you again.”
These words resonated like a poignant yet loving farewell from an older sister to her deceased younger brother.

Besides Ryder, another victim in the shooting was Savitha Shan, a 21-year-old student at the University of Texas.
Savitha is currently studying two majors: information management and economics.
The University of Texas confirmed the news of Savitha’s death in a message sent to the campus community.
“Today, we confirm that a UT student has passed away,” wrote President Jim Savis.
“A child of loving parents. A loyal friend to many. A Longhorn poised to change the world. It is a truly immense loss, and we are all deeply saddened by this terrible news.”

Savitha was described as an outstanding student, with big dreams and a generous heart.
She is someone who always knows how to inspire those around her with her intelligence and enthusiasm.
A friend of Savitha shared that she was a “wonderful friend who always knew how to make people feel special and important.”
Whenever Savitha is mentioned, people remember her smile and warm heart.
Jorge Pederson, a renowned MMA fighter from Minnesota, was also killed in the shooting.
Jorge, 30, is a No. 2 lightweight boxer in Minnesota and is known by the nickname “Trap Jorge.”
He is a highly influential figure in the martial arts community, always serving as an inspiration for young fighters.
A message on a fundraising page for Jorge’s family read: “Jorge was a role model in MMA, a person who always welcomed and brought warmth to those who came to him.”

Jorge has left a profound mark on the martial arts world by helping many aspiring fighters realize that their dreams can be achieved through relentless effort.
The MMA community has lost a great mentor, friend, and coach.
Jorge has inspired many people, helping them overcome difficulties and believe in their own abilities.
Whether in his sparring videos or the motivational messages he shares on Instagram, Jorge is always a role model of perseverance and passion.

The perpetrator of the shooting, Ndiaga Diagne, 53, was a Senegalese immigrant who later became a U.S. citizen.
He launched the attack at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden at around 2 a.m., as the bar was preparing to close.
Diagne wore a hoodie that read “Property of Allah” and was reportedly dressed in an outfit that was pro-Iranian.
Police said they found a copy of the Quran in Diagne’s SUV, suggesting he may have committed the act in retaliation for the US attack on Iran.
After killing two innocent victims, Diagne went on to injure 14 others before being killed by police in a shootout.
The motives for this attack are currently under thorough investigation, but it appears to be an act of terrorism linked to international events.

Ryder, Savitha, and Jorge are gone forever, leaving behind an unbearable grief for their family and friends.
Ryder’s brothers, Reed and Reagan, along with Savitha’s friends and Jorge’s loved ones, are all grappling with this immense loss.
However, they also found strength in the love and support of their community.
The tributes and messages from their friends, family, and loved ones show that even though they are no longer here, their influence and love will live on forever in everyone’s hearts.

In these moments of grief, the Austin community and the entire nation have united to remember those who have been lost, while praying for peace and support for those who remain.
