SM. The children’s hospital brought peace to Lincoln.
Day 67 Update: Today marks a significant moment for our little Lincoln — he is officially at Children’s Hospital, where he will continue his journey toward healing. After a long and uncertain road, we are finally breathing a little easier, knowing he is in the right place for the care he needs.
When we arrived, Lincoln underwent an X-ray to check his lungs. The results showed a small amount of fluid from his chronic lung disease, but thankfully, it’s within the normal range and not a cause for concern. We also had an
ultrasound of his belly to check for pyloric stenosis, a potential issue that could have been worrisome. Thankfully, the results were negative, which was a huge relief for us.
For now, we’re taking the weekend for the team at Children’s to observe Lincoln and monitor his condition more closely. They want to get a complete picture of what has been happening and determine the best next steps. Already, we can see a shift in Lincoln’s comfort level — he seems so much more at ease here. The lights are off, providing him with the darkness he’s never had before, as UC never turned the lights off. As soon as the lights went down, Lincoln’s eyes grew wide, and he began to look around, taking in his new environment. It’s clear that this space is already making a positive difference.
One of the biggest changes is that Lincoln now has his own private room. No more noise or disturbances. He finally has the peace and quiet he deserves, and we can physically see the tension in his little body melting away. It’s hard to describe how comforting it is to watch him finally relax.
We’re also incredibly grateful for the comfort specialists at Children’s. When Cody and I can’t be there for blood draws or tests, they come in to help soothe Lincoln, offering comfort and care. The nurses are so kind, and they go out of their way to sit with Lincoln, holding him when he needs attention. For the first time in a long while, I truly feel like he’s surrounded by a team that understands tiny babies, a team that knows exactly how to help him thrive.
And perhaps the most heartwarming change: Lincoln’s personality is shining through again. He’s calmer, more comfortable, and seems to be acting more like himself. This is exactly the environment he needs to heal. It feels like a turning point in his recovery, and while I don’t want to get ahead of myself, there is a real sense that we are moving in the right direction.
I truly believe that with the right people, the right care, and the right tests, we are finally on the path to answers we’ve been waiting for. Lincoln’s healing journey is beginning, and we are hopeful for what lies ahead.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has given us space, support, and love from a distance. Your quiet encouragement means more than you will ever know, and we feel it deeply. We are incredibly grateful for the strength of our community, and we know that it’s helping us as we navigate this journey with Lincoln.
