SAT . Update: A Long Surgical Day Ends With New Friends, Fresh Air, and Gratitude

Hunter’s day began early in the operating room and ended with something just as powerful — connection.

After another long surgery, Hunter was lifted by the unexpected visit of fellow injured lineman Guage Howard and his mother, Christie Reed, who traveled from Egan, Louisiana, to spend time with him. Their presence — and Guage’s inspiring story — brought encouragement, perspective, and strength on a day that could have easily been defined by pain alone.

It turned out to be a good day.

There were several visitors, plenty of laughs, and lots of smiles. Hunter even managed a loop around the hospital and a few precious moments outside, soaking up much-needed sunshine — a small victory that meant everything.

Pain is still very much part of the journey. The most difficult is the sharp, shooting nerve pain that comes without warning and hits the hardest. Even so, Hunter continues to push forward with resilience.

This marks surgery number four, with another likely scheduled later this week. And yet, through it all, prayers continue to be answered.

We are deeply grateful for every act of kindness — the donations, gifts, food, hotel rooms, cards, texts, messages — but most of all, the prayers. Your love and support are carrying Hunter through this fight, one day at a time. ❤️
