sat . Three Lives Lost in One Night: A South Texas Family Shattered

This is a heartbreaking loss no family should ever have to endure — and tonight, the pain cuts even deeper.
A father. Two children. One family forever changed after a violent crash near Robstown in South Texas.
Randy Rubio, 35, was driving with his children when their vehicle was struck at an intersection. He died at the scene.
His 4-year-old child, Eden, was rushed to Driscoll Children’s Hospital, where the family’s worst fears were realized hours later.
Now, the community is also mourning 12-year-old Connor Zapata, who fought for days before succumbing to his injuries.
Three lives. One night. An unimaginable wave of grief.
Adding to the heartbreak, Robstown Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator Javier Zapata was among the first responders who rushed to the scene. In the chaos, he did not know he was tending to his own nephew, Connor. Even as he now grieves, he has expressed only gratitude — thanking fellow first responders for their compassion and dedication.
One child remains critically injured.
Tonight, the community is being asked to do what words cannot — to pray, to surround this family with love, and to leave messages of comfort for those now carrying a grief too heavy to measure.
