sat . This winter, Bernoulli and Bunsen have become inseparable — and it’s been something special to watch.

Last year, Bunsen was recovering from a slipped disc. This year? He’s stronger, healthier, and back to doing what he was born to do.
On our walks, Bunsen always scouts ahead — never too far, always within sight — placing himself out in the open while keeping the rest of us closer to the creek walls or forest edge. I recently learned this is classic livestock guardian behavior: protect the pack, watch the perimeter.
And now? Bernoulli is copying him.
She’s started gently guiding Beaker and me toward the safer edges too — stepping out front, keeping watch, just like Bunsen. Meanwhile, Beaker has absolutely zero survival instincts and runs wherever her heart desires. 😅
It’s amazing how instinct kicks in. No training. Just nature.
Safe to say… it’s good to have a “Protectanoulli” on duty. 🐾
Does your dog have natural protective instincts — or are they more of a Beaker? Tell me in the comments 👇
