Maya was light. She was love. She was someone’s whole world — and she was taken far too soon in the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. Her name now joins a list that should never have existed, but her life was so much more than a headline.
Behind the police tape and the breaking news alerts are families shattered in an instant. Parents, siblings, friends, neighbors — all trying to understand how everything changed in one moment.
As we hold Maya’s name close, we’re also holding the survivors who now face unimaginable grief, trauma, and long roads of healing.
