There’s cautious relief tonight as Hunter is officially out of surgery — and doctors say the procedure went well.
Surgeons debrided a small amount of tissue from the top of his left hand and around his thumb, carefully removing damaged areas to promote healing. While progress is being made, physicians determined he’s not quite ready for skin grafts just yet. Instead, a bit more Restrata Matrix was applied to support tissue regeneration and encourage healthy growth.
His wound vac will remain in place for at least another week as doctors continue monitoring healing and preventing infection. The pin in his left thumb also remains in place to stabilize the injury.
Family members are now waiting for him to return to his room from recovery.
