SAT. ‘IT FEELS LIKE A GIFT’: BABY JAX SHOWS ENCOURAGING SIGNS AS FAMILY FACES LONG ROAD AHEAD

DALLAS — In a hospital room where days often blur together, hope is finally beginning to break through.
Baby Jax is doing “really good,” his family shared this week — words they don’t take lightly after weeks of uncertainty. Doctors are slowly weaning his high-flow oxygen and working toward stabilizing him enough to begin reducing some of his medications. Even more meaningful, they say, is that Jax is starting to feel like himself again.
“That alone feels like such a gift,” his mother wrote.
But the journey is far from over. Physicians expect at least two to three more weeks in the hospital, followed by another one to two months staying near Dallas after discharge before the family can return home. What they hoped would be a short stay has turned into an extended chapter of waiting, watching, and holding on.
“It feels like our life is on pause,” the family shared. “Like we’re stuck in this space before we can live normally again. But we know it will be worth it.”
That pause has come with real challenges — emotional, physical, and financial. Thanks to recent donations, Jax’s father has been able to remain at the hospital, helping care for Jax while also supporting his wife and balancing the needs of their three other children back home.
“Those donations are the reason my husband can be here with us,” she said. “That’s a gift I don’t even have words for.”
And for those unable to give financially, the family says the prayers, messages, and constant encouragement have mattered just as much.
“On the hard days, I scroll through the comments,” she wrote. “They remind me that we are not alone.”
For now, progress is measured in small victories — a setting lowered, a smile returned, a moment of normalcy reclaimed. And through it all, the family remains deeply grateful.
“We are so thankful,” they shared. “Truly.”
