SAT. He Went Into the Storm So Others Could Be Safe — Now a Young Lineman Is Fighting for His Life
While most families waited out the ice storm in the safety of their homes, Hunter Alexander went the other way — straight into the worst conditions — so others could have light, heat, and safety.
Hunter, a 24-year-old lineman, was working to restore power after the brutal storm, doing the job linemen do every day without hesitation or applause. Somewhere along those damaged power lines, everything changed.
A powerful electrical shock surged through his body, causing catastrophic injuries to his arms and hands.
Now, Hunter is fighting a battle of his own from an ICU bed in Louisiana.
Doctors rushed him into emergency surgery, performing fasciotomies on both arms to relieve life-threatening pressure. Since then, damaged tissue has been removed, wound vacs placed, and his family has been warned that the coming days are critical.
This morning, Hunter is heading back into surgery.
His loved ones are asking for one thing above all else: prayers — that circulation can be restored, that the tissue can be saved, and that amputation won’t be necessary.
By his side through it all is his wife, Katie. She has barely left the ICU, sleeping on a small cot next to him, holding his hand between procedures. She says every prayer, every message, every ounce of support has been felt — even in the darkest moments.
“This is what a hero without a cape looks like,” one family member shared.
A young man who put others first.
A family now holding their breath.
A community praying limb by limb, hour by hour.
As Hunter goes into surgery today, please pause and lift him up in your prayers.
