SAT. After a Terrifying Exposure, Levi’s Recovery Feels Nothing Short of a Miracle

This morning, Levi’s family says they are nearly at a loss for words — in the best possible way.
After less than 48 hours in the ICU, Levi is expected to leave intensive care and be transferred to the TCC. It’s a milestone few thought would come so quickly.
Doctors say that just one gram of copper is considered a fatal dose. Levi was exposed to three grams — three times what is believed to be lethal. And yet, against all odds, he is showing no serious effects.
As of now, the only remaining issues are irritation to his esophagus and stomach.
His lab results are trending beautifully. He is alert, oriented, and fully aware of what happened and where he is. True to who he is, Levi is still his spunky self — a little lower on energy than usual, but awake, talking, and already asking to go home.
Medical teams credit both rapid intervention and close monitoring for his progress. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital worked quickly to flush the copper from his system and watched him closely around the clock. Throughout it all, the family says they were met with compassion, reassurance, and grace.
“There has been zero judgment,” Levi’s parent shared. “Every nurse and doctor told me not to beat myself up.”
Though the family has faced challenges with children’s hospitals in the past, this admission has helped restore faith — not just in medicine, but in kindness.
Levi is not completely out of the woods yet. He is just seven hours away from reaching the critical 48-hour mark since exposure. But for the first time, things are clearly moving in the right direction.
“I am just so thankful,” his parent said. “Almost speechless — and if you know me, that doesn’t happen very often.”
Faith remains at the center of this journey.
“God is number one,” they shared. “I’m so thankful for His mercy and grace.”
For now, Levi rests — sleepy, healing, and surrounded by hope. 🫶🏼
