Christian Isaiah Cypress, a dedicated soldier of the U.S. Army, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Chester at just 26 years old.

Serving as a Communications NCO with the 97th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), SSG Cypress played a vital role in managing critical communications supporting civil-military operations. Before his passing, he had been accepted into the Civil Affairs Qualification Course — a step that would have advanced his career in special operations civil affairs.

Despite his young age, Cypress had already earned the rank of Staff Sergeant, a reflection of his professionalism, leadership, and deep knowledge. Fellow soldiers remembered him as one of the most capable and respected service members in his unit, saying he was a leader who “would have gone far.”

On March 7, 2026, family, friends, and fellow service members gathered to honor his life at a Celebration of Life service before laying him to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.

Though his life was brief, his service, dedication, and the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Staff Sergeant Cypress. Your service and sacrifice will always be remembered. 🇺🇸
