SAT . A Virginia liquor store had an unusual customer over the weekend: an inebriated raccoon found passed out in the bathroom

Raccoon Found “Passed Out Cold” in Liquor Store Bathroom, Officials Say**
In one of the strangest — and funniest — calls local responders have received this year, wildlife officials in Pennsylvania were dispatched Tuesday night to deal with an unusual emergency.
A drunk raccoon had been found completely passed out in the bathroom of a liquor store.
A Scene No One Expected
According to store employees, they heard strange noises coming from the restroom. Thinking a customer needed help, they opened the door — and froze.
A raccoon was sprawled on the floor, eyes half-closed, belly rising and falling slowly… surrounded by spilled alcohol.
“We just stared at it,” one employee said. “It looked at us with this sleepy, glazed-over expression, then rolled onto its side like, ‘I’m done. Leave me alone.’”
How Did It Even Drink Alcohol?
Officials believe the raccoon slipped into the store’s back area and found an open or broken bottle. Raccoons are notorious scavengers with sharp senses — and often attracted to strong, sweet smells.
Apparently, this one found the wrong smell at the wrong time, drank far too much, and wandered into the restroom to sleep it off… before fully passing out.
Rescue Mission — and a Lesson Learned
Animal rescue workers said the raccoon wasn’t injured, just extremely intoxicated.
“When it woke up, it staggered like someone walking out of a wild party,” one worker joked.
After monitoring it for several hours, officials released the raccoon back into the woods — hopefully with a brand-new respect for its alcohol tolerance.
Social Media Explodes
The store’s post about the incident went viral instantly:
- “That raccoon parties harder than my friends.”
- “Call him Raccoon Malone.”
- “Who let this poor guy drink alone?”
The story sparked a wave of memes about animals with questionable party habits.
A Funny Story, But a Real Reminder
Despite the humor, wildlife authorities remind the public:
If you see wild animals acting strangely, report it immediately. And keep food — and alcohol — properly sealed.
Because you never know when the next drunken bandit might show up.
