SAT . A SPOONFUL OF ICE CREAM — AND A HEART FULL OF HOPE FOR CALLIE PITTMAN

Yesterday, Callie Pittman ate a few spoonfuls of chocolate ice cream.

She smacked her lips.
She smiled.

And in that simple moment, something extraordinary happened.

It sent chills down Callie’s throat — and straight into the hearts of her parents.

Give it up for Callie.

She’s 4-and-a-half years old, from Oklahoma City, and she has been fighting a battle no child should ever have to face. Nearly two years ago, at just 2-and-a-half, Callie was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since then, she has tackled cancer with a strength far beyond her years.

There’s something special about Callie — something the world can’t help but embrace.

Callie loves life, and she is fighting to make sure cancer doesn’t take it from her.

There’s still so much life ahead of her:
Princesses and Bluey.
Stitch and scooters.
And yes — spaghetti.

Callie would eat spaghetti every day if she was offered it,” her mom Jessica laughed.

For two long years, Callie did everything her doctors asked of her. Treatment after treatment. Appointment after appointment. And just eight weeks ago, as she was only months away from reaching her maintenance stage, her family received devastating news.

Callie relapsed.

But now — there is good news.

On December 23rd, Callie underwent a bone marrow transplant. And today, doctors say she is beginning to engraft, meaning the transplant is starting to work.

While Callie is still dependent on a feeding tube for nourishment, her parents, Bailey and Jessica, have begun gently reintroducing food.

Callie hasn’t eaten anything in weeks,” Jessica shared.
“That’s why we celebrated when she swallowed a few spoonfuls of chocolate ice cream.”

Those spoonfuls weren’t just food.
They were progress.
They were hope.
They were proof that Callie is moving forward.

It looks like Callie is on her way — thanks to a cold spoonful of ice cream that warmed hearts far beyond her hospital room.

As Callie continues healing, her family asks for continued love and support.

💛 Please keep Callie, her parents Bailey and Jessica, and her sister Kaycie in your thoughts and prayers.

in a smile,
in a spoonful,
