sat . 🙏 A PRAYER FOR MIA: HOPE, GRATITUDE, AND A QUIET WEEKEND AHEAD

Please lift Mia S and her family in prayer today.
After everything she has endured, Mia recently experienced a week filled with joy and meaning. Back home, her sweet class surprised her with a celebration to honor a powerful milestone — the day she rang the bell. Confetti cannons echoed through the gym, laughter filled the room, and for a moment, the weight of illness gave way to pure joy. Even more special, Kinsley was able to be there, making the moment complete.
But healing is rarely a straight line.
As the week continued, Mia grew increasingly tired — an exhaustion that comes not only from physical treatment, but from the emotional toll of the journey itself. By midweek, her mom noticed she was growing pale, a familiar sign that another blood transfusion might be needed. Still, Mia pressed on, excited to return to dance class — something her family carefully balances by doing half days when her strength and counts begin to drop, so she can still hold onto the things she loves.
Labs this morning confirmed what they feared: Mia did need a transfusion. With quiet resolve, her mom packed a bag once again and they headed to Iowa City, hoping they wouldn’t need it. There is gratitude even in the worry — Mia did not need platelets this time, and her family is hopeful this could be her last blood transfusion.
Now, the prayer is simple and urgent.
Mia’s neutrophils are incredibly low, and she has been right on the edge of a fever — a moment that brings back difficult memories of New Year’s Eve. If her temperature spikes, admission will be necessary. Her family is praying for protection, stability, and something that feels almost luxurious after so much chaos: a quiet, uneventful weekend at home.
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” — Psalm 31:24
Please join this family in prayer — for strength, for healing, for no fever, and for peace in the waiting. 💛
