He turned away from the microphone and walked to the edge of the stage, where his dad sat. No lyrics. No music. Just a small voice, steady now. “I just wanted to see if you were proud.” Carrie’s hands stayed on the piano, but she didn’t play. She watched. Mike Fisher stood up, nodded once, eyes glassy, and whispered something only their son could hear. That was enough.
