A Baby Fighting Alone — and a Family Desperate to Be by His Side

Some parents never leave their baby’s hospital bedside. They sleep in chairs, memorize the rhythm of machines, and hold onto every breath their child takes.
Others, heartbreakingly, are forced to love their child from miles away — not by choice, but because they simply cannot afford to be there.

Today, a grandmother is bravely asking for help so that her grandson’s parents can be beside him — to see him with their own eyes, to hold him, to love him, and to help him fight.

Baby Brandon is just three months old. From the very moment he entered this world, his life has been marked by struggle. Born with serious complications, Brandon required surgery on the same day he was born. Doctors were forced to remove a large portion of his intestine and perform a colostomy, a procedure no newborn should ever have to endure.

He spent his earliest days in intensive care, surrounded by machines, tubes, and alarms — fighting from the very beginning.

A month ago, doctors attempted to reconnect his intestine, hoping it would be a turning point. Instead, Brandon’s condition worsened. Since then, he has not been doing well and remains hospitalized at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, continuing to face battles no baby should ever know.

While Brandon fights for his life, his parents are fighting a different kind of battle — one filled with helplessness and heartbreak. They live in Mexico and do not yet have health insurance. The overwhelming cost of travel, lodging, food, and daily expenses has made it nearly impossible for them to stay by their son’s side.

So Brandon’s grandmother, America, is turning to all of us.

She is asking for help so this baby’s parents can be reunited with their child — so they can sit next to his hospital bed, hold his tiny hand, whisper love into his ear, and remind him that he is not fighting alone. No parent should have to love their child from afar while that child lies in a hospital bed.
