HOUSTON — Fourteen-year-old Will Roberts of Ralph, Alabama, is once again fighting for his life after doctors discovered that his aggressive bone cancer has returned.
Will, who lost his left leg earlier this year due to osteosarcoma, underwent major surgery this week at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Doctors made a large incision across his hips and thigh after the cancer spread to his pelvis and femur. What was expected to be a minor procedure became a much more extensive operation.
Will’s mother, Brittney Roberts, described the experience as heartbreaking, sharing that her son now has tubes coming from his arms, neck, and nose as he recovers. Another surgery is scheduled for later this week in an effort to freeze and remove additional cancer spots.
The emotional toll has been heavy on the family. Brittney shared that returning to their Houston lodging without Will was one of the hardest moments of their journey. His personal belongings — left exactly where he last used them — made the absence even more painful.
Despite the challenges, the Roberts family continues to lean on their faith and the support of friends and strangers alike. They are asking for continued prayers as Will faces more treatment in the days ahead.
Will remains a symbol of strength and resilience as he continues his battle against stage 4 cancer.
