A mother’s quiet strength and faith are touching hearts after she shared what happened moments after learning her son’s cancer treatment may not be working as hoped.
The mother of Will Roberts, a young boy fighting bone cancer, revealed that doctors recently found new concerning spots on his PET scan — a sign the current chemotherapy medication may not be stopping the disease.
Rather than allowing fear to take over, she chose honesty and courage as she gently spoke to her son while pushing his wheelchair through the hospital parking deck.
When Will asked if the cancer had spread, she told him there were a few new spots and that doctors were still unsure about previous ones. The boy fell silent, taking in the weight of the moment.
That was when his mother offered him a powerful perspective.
She asked Will what was different now compared to when he woke up that morning. When he couldn’t answer, she reminded him that nothing had changed — his body felt the same, his life was the same, and the joy waiting for them at home was still there.
