Jude’s family is asking for urgent prayers after a frightening overnight turn left doctors working to get air moving through his lungs.
According to the latest update, around 4:00 a.m., Jude’s lungs stopped moving air, and his team had to ventilate him using a full face mask. Even with the mask in place, medical staff reportedly struggled to push air effectively because the secretions in Jude’s lungs were described as extremely thick.
Deep suctioning was attempted, but the family said it did not bring the relief everyone hoped for. Doctors then initiated a continuous albuterol drip in an effort to keep Jude’s airways open and support his breathing.
Waiting on Pulmonology — Praying for an Off-Label Option
The family shared that they are now waiting on pulmonology and praying for approval of a medication typically used in cystic fibrosis, requested off-label, that may help break up the heavy buildup in Jude’s lungs.
They emphasized that Jude does not have cystic fibrosis, but that RCDP affects the lungs in ways that can look similar—while also being so rare that the usual range of treatment options simply isn’t there.
Because of that rarity, the family says they are asking for something that goes beyond standard protocols: open doors, creative solutions, and mercy—the kind of help they believe medicine alone cannot always provide.
