LDL. Update on Hunter — 9:03 a.m.
This morning, Hunter’s family met with Dr. Purcell, the orthopedic surgeon overseeing his care. During the appointment, he reviewed side-by-side comparison photos of Hunter’s left arm and hand from last week and today. The difference was described as both significant and encouraging — a clear visual sign that healing is progressing.
Surgical and Wound Care Progress
Hunter’s left thumb required placement of a stabilizing pin to support proper alignment and create the right environment for healing. The pin will help maintain structure while the surrounding tissue continues to recover.
In addition, surgeons placed another piece of Restrata matrix over the thumb area. Restrata is a synthetic wound matrix designed to support new tissue growth and provide a scaffold for the body’s natural healing process. The added application is intended to further encourage healthy granulation and tissue development.
The wound areas on his left arm have shown major improvement compared to last week. According to his medical team, the tissue appears healthier and continues to move in a positive direction. The wound vacuum device will likely remain in place for approximately two more weeks to assist with drainage, circulation, and optimal healing conditions.
Looking Ahead
While progress is steady, the recovery remains gradual. Once all current wounds are fully healed and stable, Hunter will eventually require reconstructive surgery on his left thumb tendon. That procedure is still well down the road and will only be considered after he has completely recovered from the present surgeries and wound treatments.
Surgery #8 is scheduled for next Monday. It will be performed by Dr. Chauvin, as Dr. Purcell will be out of town at that time. The care team remains coordinated and confident in the treatment plan moving forward.
Hunter is currently in recovery following today’s procedures.
Continued Prayers Requested
The family asks for continued prayer and support:
• That the stabilizing pin promotes strong and healthy granulation
• That the Restrata matrix continues to support effective tissue growth
• That his pain steadily decreases
• That healing remains consistent and free of complications
Though the journey has required patience and resilience, today’s update brings genuine encouragement. The improvement seen in just one week reflects the dedication of his medical team and Hunter’s own strength through each stage of this process.
