LDL. Texas Boy Will Roberts Faces New Cancer Battle After Latest Scans Reveal Four New Tumors

Doctors treating 13-year-old Will Roberts have confirmed that new cancer growth has been detected, marking another difficult chapter in his fight against aggressive bone cancer.

After reviewing updated scans this week, Will’s oncology team found four new small cancer spotsthree in his remaining leg and one in the pelvic region. While the news was heartbreaking for his family, doctors noted that none of the tumors are currently in high-risk areas such as the spine or vital organs, giving doctors cautious hope.

Will, who has already lost one leg to cancer, is now taking a daily chemotherapy pill called Cabozantinib (Cabo). His doctors believe some of the newly discovered spots may have developed before the medication began, during a short but critical gap between scans and treatment — a time when Will’s cancer was spreading rapidly.

“This next round of scans will tell us much more,” his medical team explained. Will will remain on the chemotherapy pill continuously over the next four to six weeks, allowing doctors to determine whether the medication is slowing or stopping the disease.

Doctors are also preparing to begin targeted radiation therapy on several of the new spots, pending approval. Meanwhile, Will is waiting for MEPACT immunotherapy, a treatment that has been shown to improve survival in pediatric bone cancer patients, though it is currently in short supply nationwide.

Despite the uncertainty, Will’s family says they are staying focused on faith, strength, and hope.

“We treat what we see. We watch closely. And we keep marching forward — one step, one scan, one prayer at a time,” his family shared.

As Will continues this difficult journey, supporters across the country are rallying behind him, sending prayers, messages of love, and encouragement to remind him that he is not fighting alone.
