LDL. Small Victories, Stronger Hope: Hunter’s Healing Begins to Take Shape

Good evening, everyone.
Hunter is resting tonight with better pain control after a tough but productive day in the ICU.
The orthopedic team came by earlier and explained exactly what happened during today’s surgery and debridement:

- They removed a small amount of damaged muscle from his left forearm and a bit of tissue from his right thumb.
- The other burned areas on his left upper arm, forearm, and wrist were carefully debrided.
- The surgeon said not much tissue or muscle had to be taken out today — everything looked “pretty good” under the circumstances.
This is encouraging news. The plan moving forward: they’ll likely do another irrigation and debridement either Thursday or Friday, and if things continue to look clean and healthy, they could start skin grafting soon after. It’s still early, but the possibility of grafting is now being openly discussed — a huge step in the healing process.+

Circulation checks continue hourly with Doppler on both arms, and his ulnar pulse remains strong and steady — another small but important win.
Pain has been much better managed today. The one-time dose of IV Tylenol helped kick things off, and they’ve added Toradol to the regimen. His ICU nurse has been incredible — pampering him, keeping everything calm, and making sure he’s as comfortable as possible. Hunter even had a few more friends stop by to visit, which lifted his spirits.
He’s still in ICU (4J-13), still fighting every hour to save both arms, still dealing with significant pain and uncertainty. But tonight he’s got a full belly (thanks to some Wingstop DoorDash from the nurses), better meds on board, and a little more peace than he’s had in days.
From the whole family: thank you. Thank you for the prayers that started early this morning and carried through every minute of today. You’ve been our strength when we needed it most.
We’ll update tomorrow after ortho and vascular rounds. Until then, keep Hunter in your thoughts tonight — for continued circulation, for pain relief, for tissue healing, and for the strength to face whatever comes next.
Hunter says thank you — he’s hurting, but he’s still here, still fighting, still grateful for every single one of you.
Rest if you can, brother. We love you. We’re still right here — every heartbeat, every prayer, every update.
