LDL. Nearly One Year Later: Kamden Bryant’s Family Still Holding Onto Hope

Next month marks one year since Kevin and Kasey Bryant’s world changed in an instant.

In March 2025, their nearly three-year-old son, Kamden Bryant, quietly slipped out the front door of their home in Winfield, Alabama. Within minutes, a normal day became every parent’s nightmare. After a frantic search, Kam was found unconscious in a neighbor’s pond.

He survived.

But the prolonged lack of oxygen left him with a severe anoxic brain injury. Since that day, he has remained in a semi-conscious state.

This week, Kam’s father shared a new update — one rooted not in dramatic breakthroughs, but in steady persistence.

Kam is still fighting.

He has begun responding more noticeably to sound. When his parents come home and speak to him, he opens his eyes and moves. These responses may seem small to the outside world, but in the landscape of long-term neurological recovery, they are meaningful.

He has also been successfully weaned off most of his medications and is tolerating those changes well. There have been no major setbacks — a quiet but important milestone in cases involving significant brain injury.

Doctors often explain that recovery from anoxic brain injury is unpredictable. Progress can unfold over months or even years. Improvements may come slowly, measured not in dramatic awakenings, but in subtle signs: eye tracking, sound recognition, small voluntary movements.

Stability, in itself, is progress.

For Kevin and Kasey, life is now lived day by day. Milestones look different. Hope looks different. Faith, they say, remains unwavering.

As the one-year anniversary approaches, their routine continues: loving him, speaking to him, believing that every small response matters.

Please keep Kam and his family in your thoughts during this milestone month. And if you’re someone who believes in prayer, lift up strength for his parents, endurance for the long road ahead, and the possibility of brighter updates in the days to come.
