sat . BREAKING: WELL, WELL, WELL! Newly unearthed footage shows Pete Hegseth saying EXACTLY what the six Democrats said in their video that prompted Trump and Hegseth to hysterically smear them as traitors!
n a video from April 2016 at an event hosted by the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley, Hegseth was asked about troops facing consequences for war crimes. He replied “I do think there have to be consequences for abject war crimes. If you’re doing something that is just completely unlawful and ruthless, then there is a consequence for that.”
“That’s why the military said it won’t follow unlawful orders from their commander in chief. There’s a standard, there’s an ethos. There’s a belief that we are above what so many things that our enemies or others would do.”
These exact same sentiments were expressed in the recent video by six Democrats urging our military servicemembers to disobey illegal orders. “Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders.”
“No one has to carry out orders that violate the law, or our Constitution,” they said. “Know that we have your back… don’t give up the ship.”
Hegseth responded by threatening to reactivate Sen. Mark Kelly and initiate court-martial proceedings. He wrote on Twitter that “The video made by the “Seditious Six” was despicable, reckless, and false. Encouraging our warriors to ignore the orders of their Commanders undermines every aspect of “good order and discipline.” Their foolish screed sows doubt and confusion — which only puts our warriors in danger.”
So what changed?
Probably the fact that Hegseth is now the Secretary of Defense and is issuing illegal orders to murder helpless, shipwrecked sailors with his illegal bombing campaigns of boaters as a pretext to sparking an illegal war with Venezuela.
The hypocrisy is outrageous and yet par for the course for Hegseth, who we all know is a drunk rapist with zero moral character, dignity, or principle.
But these comments are a reminder that even Trump’s own team knows what they are doing is wrong — and the hysterical response is a clear projection of their insecurity and their terror at the idea of being held accountable.
