LDL. LATEST HEALTH UPDATE — A STRONGER MORNING, A BRIGHTER SPIRIT 💙🙏
When I arrived at the hospital this morning, the receptionist smiled and said,
“He’s been walking up and down the hall.”
That’s just who he is.
He even had the nurse move his bed into the hallway so he could talk with people passing by. Despite everything he’s been through, his spirit refuses to stay confined to a hospital room.
Medical Update
Last night was difficult. His pain level was higher than usual, and sleep was hard to come by. Still, today brought encouraging news.
- His CK level has dropped to 21,000 and continues to trend downward.
- All other lab results look good.
- His catheter has been removed (those who know him well will understand the “Hunter version” of that story 😅).
- Intake and output are stable.
- The wound vacs are working exactly as intended.
He is scheduled to return to surgery on January 29 so doctors can assess how the wounds are healing and determine if any additional tissue needs to be removed.
The most reassuring sign of all:
His fingers remain pink and he still has movement.
He will likely remain in the surgical ICU for a few more days.
Therapy & Strength
Physical and Occupational Therapy evaluated him this morning and said he does not need therapy at this time. His rehab will come later, mostly focusing on OT.
And because independence is part of who he is, he figured out a way to hold his spoon and ate all of his eggs by himself this morning. 💪
Still Being “Hunter”
He was laughing with the staff, making friends, and even managed to find someone who knows a great place to turkey hunt in Illinois 🦃
Overall, his spirits are high — hopeful, grateful, and determined.
He wanted everyone to know:
“Thank you for everything.”
Every prayer, message, and kind word truly matters.
We’re taking this journey one step at a time —
and today, those steps were down the hallway. 💙
