LDL. A Small Mercy in the Storm: Family Shares New Update on Will Roberts’ Cancer Battle

The Roberts family is holding onto a moment of relief after receiving an important update on 14-year-old Will Roberts, who continues to fight bone cancer with courage far beyond his years.

On the drive home, the family received a call from Will’s oncologist — news that allowed them, at least for now, to breathe a little easier. Doctors confirmed that the tumor located on Will’s back is not currently jeopardizing his spinal cord. In the midst of so much uncertainty, this news felt like a small but powerful mercy.

“Knowing his spinal cord is safe right now changes everything,” the family shared. “It doesn’t remove the fear, but it gives us room to keep moving forward.”

While the tumor has begun causing Will pain, his medical team is already working quickly. The oncologist has reached out to radiology specialists to determine whether radiation therapy may be an option to help shrink the tumor and ease his discomfort. The family expects to receive a clearer treatment plan sometime next week.

Like many families navigating childhood cancer, the Roberts are learning to live in the space between gratitude and worry — celebrating every piece of good news while preparing for what may come next.

After a long, emotionally draining day, Will returned home to something just as powerful as medical updates: love. Cards filled with encouragement, thoughtful messages, and small surprises were waiting for him, instantly lifting his spirits and easing his anxiety.

The family was also surprised with dinner, generously provided by Coker Market, arriving at exactly the right moment — after a stressful day when exhaustion had taken over.

“It took a huge weight off our shoulders,” the family said. “It reminded us we are not walking this road alone.”

Through it all, faith remains the foundation holding them upright.

“God is so good,” Will’s mom shared. “Each of you has been a ray of light in the middle of our storm. I know He is present through it all. He is the only reason I can stand on some days.”

As Will continues his fight, the Roberts family remains deeply grateful for every prayer, every message, every act of kindness — and every moment of hope.

For now, they are holding onto this update, this mercy, and the strength to keep marching forward together.
