LDL. A Moment of Peace in the Middle of Pain: An Update on Will

When your child is hurting, there is a kind of pain that no words can fully describe. Recently, Will experienced one of those difficult moments — the kind that forces you to leave a place he never wants to leave, with nothing to do but drive home and pray that God will take the pain away.

As we were nearing home, something unexpected happened. Will quietly said, “Mom, I’m finally relaxed. Can we stop and get Rebel and just ride and listen to Christian music?” In the middle of fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty, those words felt like a small miracle.

So we did exactly that.

Before long, the car was full — me, Jason, Will, Charlie, their friends, and both dogs — all riding together, Christian music playing loud, hearts breathing a little easier. For a brief moment, the pain loosened its grip, and peace took its place.

Moments like these remind us how precious relief can be, even when it’s temporary. They also remind us that God meets us in the middle of suffering — sometimes not by removing the battle, but by giving rest along the way.

As we look ahead, our hearts are focused on hope. We are praying for a beautiful Sunday service where Will and his sister Charlie can be baptized together on the same day — a powerful moment of faith, family, and renewal. We are asking God to keep the pain away, to protect Will’s body, and to continue carrying him through this journey.

We are also deeply thankful for the friends who came to spend time with Will and Charlie this weekend. Their presence, laughter, and love mean more than words can express.

Please continue to keep Will in your prayers — for comfort, healing, and peace — and for our family as we walk this road together, trusting God one step at a time.
