14-Year-Old Will Roberts and His Rescue Dog Rocky Share Comfort and Courage
It was a heartwarming sight last night just outside Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 14-year-old Will Roberts, who is bravely battling bone cancer, settled in to watch the Iron Bowl, with his loyal rescue dog Rocky by his side.
Will and Rocky share a special bond. Rocky, who came to the family with three legs after being rescued, has been a source of comfort and companionship since the loss of Will’s stepmother to cancer in 2023. Ironically, Rocky’s missing leg became a shared experience when doctors had to remove part of Will’s left leg.
Despite their challenges, the pair navigate the house and life together with determination. While Rocky mostly napped during the game, Will remained full of energy, rooting for the Crimson Tide.
Will has recently undergone surgery to remove cancerous spots on his pelvis and right femur, following the amputation of his left leg from the knee. His family plans to discuss the next steps in his treatment soon.
Through it all, Rocky remains a steadfast companion — the three-legged dog with a big heart offering comfort and love to a brave young boy.
