SAT . FAITH IN ACTION: A CHURCH’S $1 MILLION GIFT SAVES 338 FAMILIES FROM EVICTION

On April 5, 2026, a powerful moment unfolded at Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria. Led by Pastor Howard-John Wesley, the church made a life-changing impact—donating over $1 million to help prevent the eviction of 338 families.
During the service, Pastor Wesley shared the news with emotion: “You have helped stop the eviction of 338 families… To God be the glory.”
The funds were raised through the church’s SEEK initiative—a movement rooted in prayer, fasting, and community action. But this wasn’t their first act of generosity. Just last year, the church gave $132,469 to erase college debt for 11 graduates of Saint Augustine’s University.
From keeping families in their homes to lifting the burden of student debt, Alfred Street Baptist Church continues to show how faith and compassion can create real change.
Their message is simple but powerful: everyone has something to give—whether it’s time, resources, or kindness.
