sat . HE SURVIVED THE FIRE… AND TODAY IS SURGERY NUMBER 36

Zachary Sutterfield is 27 years old, and today he walks into his 36th surgery.
His story began in 2018, when he jumped from a burning apartment in San Marcos, Texas — his body engulfed in flames. He suffered burns over 70% of his body, and doctors weren’t sure he would survive.
But he did.
Since then, it has been surgery after surgery. Pain most of us will never understand. A long journey of rebuilding a life after everything changed in a single night.
Today… is another step.

His mother shared:
“Zach is going into his 36th surgery — a neck and mouth release. Please pray for his comfort, his medical team, his anxiety… and of course, Mama Bear.”
Then she added something even heavier:
“This is our first surgery without Karl.”
Loss is still part of this story.
Even now.

But so is strength.
Zach has spent years turning his pain into purpose — becoming an advocate for burn survivors, speaking out so others don’t have to go through what he did.
If you’ve followed his journey, this is one of those moments that matters.
Say a prayer for Zach today.
And leave him a message to read when he wakes up.
