Zachary Sutterfield is 27 years old, and today he walks into his 36th surgery.
His story began in 2018, when he jumped from a burning apartment in San Marcos, Texas — his body engulfed in flames. He suffered burns over 70% of his body, and doctors weren’t sure he would survive.
But he did.
Since then, it has been surgery after surgery. Pain most of us will never understand. A long journey of rebuilding a life after everything changed in a single night.
Today… is another step.
His mother shared:
“Zach is going into his 36th surgery — a neck and mouth release. Please pray for his comfort, his medical team, his anxiety… and of course, Mama Bear.”
Then she added something even heavier:
“This is our first surgery without Karl.”
Loss is still part of this story.
Even now.
But so is strength.
