TST. SPRING BREAK 2026: NO TRIPS, JUST TRIUMPHS FOR WILL ROBERTS

I haven’t updated you on our friend Will Roberts in a number of days.
I thought I’d fill you in on the 15-year-old from Ralph, AL as he fights bone cancer.
It’s spring break for Will.
Many of the students at Sipsey Valley Middle School are taking family trips.
Not Will.
Doctors have ordered up radiation treatments all week, putting an end to
thoughts of Will leaving town.
Here’s the latest update from Will’s mom Brittney:
“Spring Break 2026 may not be diamonds and glitter, but it’s still a step above where we were last year… living in a hospital room.
“We had planned to do something fun later in the week when the weather turned pretty. Instead, we got the call Friday that Will needed another round of radiation… it’s every single day this week. No sleeping in. No big trips. And honestly… who’s complaining besides him? Not me. I’m thankful beyond words they can always get us in quickly when he needs it.
“Monday night was rough. Immunotherapy symptoms mixed with radiation the same day hit him harder than usual. He sweated it out, battled the nausea, and still got up Tuesday morning ready to do it all over again. That’s just who he is.
“Tuesday afternoon we escaped for a little four-wheeler ride together until we both decided our fingertips were about to freeze off. It wasn’t glamorous… but it was freedom.
“Huge thank you to Aunt Julie for taking Charlie this week and making it special for her since our plans had to change. And Jason and I even managed a quiet dinner out last night before bringing takeout home to Will.
“Then… because our life is apparently written by someone with a wild sense of irony and you can’t make this up… on the way home an owl, clutching what looked like its midnight snack, flew into our windshield.
“I wanted to stop traffic on 20/59 and go find that poor creature to make sure it was alive. We didn’t risk anyone else’s safety to do that… but of all the things. Somehow… we killed another bird.
“Life right now isn’t picture-perfect. It’s messy.
It’s unpredictable.
It’s exhausting.
But we are still living it the best we know how.
“Today we will head back to Birmingham for day 3 of radiation!!!”
Thanks to Brittney for writing openly about Will and her worried but blessed family- a family that is full of faith and love and unity.
Let’s send our best to this sweet family as spring break is no break at all.
Let’s share the family with the world.
