Oh, how I feel for Will Roberts.
The 15-year-old from Ralph, AL (today is Will’s birthday) is now undergoing immunotherapy.
It’s the latest effort to address cancerous spots as Will is fighting osteosarcoma (bone cancer).
Will’s mom Brittney has been keeping us up to date on her son.
Here is Brittney’s latest update.
“The immunotherapy is working, but Will is sick.
He woke up sweating and shaking with chills in the middle of the night.
Nausea kicked in shortly after the treatment.
“This morning he is suffering from headache, muscle aches, and fatigue. It’s common flu symptoms.
When I woke him up at 5am to take his daily chemo pill, he apologized and said he was just too sick to go to school.
“It sounds bad but actually it’s a good sign that his immune system is becoming activated and doing what this drug is supposed to do… battle cancer cells.
It’s waking his immune system up to fight.
We will return on Thursday for radiation mapping on his pelvis and then his head to clinic for dose #2 of immunotherapy.
“These days are long but a year ago from right now we were spending these pretty days in a hospital room for days on in.
“I have to occasionally remind Will of the hard days when he gets discouraged.
It can always be worse and we will take any day of being sick at home instead of being locked in at a hospital.
“Thank you God for this sickness that lets my mama heart feel it’s working exactly like it should!!!”
Once again, I thank Brittney for her honest, open updates- her love for her son is evident.
After reading Brittney’s update, I’m left speechless, because no one says it better.
