What was meant to be a celebration of courage quickly turned into a terrifying ordeal for a young girl and her mother.
Colondra Wilson had planned a special trip to Honduras to celebrate her daughter — a brave child who has spent much of her life battling seizures.
But during a jungle 4-wheeler excursion, tragedy struck.
The young girl was involved in a serious accident that left her with a broken arm, multiple missing teeth, and severe facial injuries. Her lips were torn open and required emergency stitches, while deep cuts and swelling covered her face.
As if the trauma wasn’t enough, the cruise ship they arrived on left without them, forcing Colondra to stay behind in a foreign country while her daughter received urgent medical care.
The situation quickly became overwhelming. Medical bills began to mount as the family worked to get the injured child to Florida for surgery before eventually returning home to Beaumont for continued treatment.
What was supposed to be a joyful memory became a frightening fight for recovery far from home.
