A concerned mother from Richmond, Virginia recently reached out to local journalist Jon Burkett of WTVR CBS 6 with a message close to her heart.
Her son, Jahrell Horne of Henrico, Virginia, is currently serving aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier that recently changed course to support fellow sailors operating in waters near Iran. Like many military families, the uncertainty has left her praying for his safety.
Burkett, who served five years in the United States Navy before becoming a journalist, understood that concern deeply. Drawing on his own experience at sea, he shared a heartfelt prayer for Jahrell and the sailors serving alongside him.
“Lord, watch over our sailors serving on the waters near Iran. Protect them, guide their decisions, and give them courage and calm in every moment. Keep them safe in Your care and bring them home to their families in peace. Amen.”
The moment quickly resonated with many in the community, reminding people of the families waiting and praying back home.
