sat . “She Was Almost Home”: Minnesota Soldier Killed in Kuwait Strike Remembered as Devoted Mom, Leader

PORT SHUAIBA, Kuwait — Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, a 39-year-old Army Reserve soldier from White Bear Lake, was killed March 1, 2026, in an Iranian strike on a U.S. facility in Kuwait. Five other American service members also lost their lives in the attack.

A wife and mother of two, Amor had served her country for more than two decades. She enlisted in the National Guard in 2005 before transferring to the Army Reserve in 2006. Over the years, she earned numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal.

She was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, a critical logistics unit responsible for delivering food, fuel, water, ammunition, transportation equipment, and supplies to troops overseas.

“She was almost home,” her husband, Joey Amor, told the Associated Press. “You don’t go to Kuwait thinking something’s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first — it hurts.”

Speaking to MPR News, he added, “If you needed anything she would just take care of it for you. She’s helped a lot of people.”

Those who knew her say that spirit of service defined her — both in uniform and at home.

Sgt. Amor gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to her country. She leaves behind a grieving family, a proud community, and a legacy of strength, compassion, and dedication.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Amor. 🇺🇸
