LDL. 5:45 PM UPDATE — Please Keep Hudson in Your Prayers

For Hudson’s safety, the team is moving forward with placing a femoral central line. With the number of continuous medication drips he requires, secure and reliable access is critical right now. Please pray the procedure goes smoothly and that he is protected from infection and blood clots.

Extubation has been postponed and is now tentatively hoped for sometime next week. As much as we long for that milestone, the ICU team and our family agree — it needs to happen when Hudson is in the strongest, safest position possible.

At the moment, Hudson is significantly fluid overloaded. The team is using Lasix to help remove excess fluid, but it’s a delicate balance because his blood pressures have been running low. They are carefully adjusting medications to support his circulation while still encouraging fluid removal.

Since extubation won’t happen this weekend, the plan is to transition him off propofol and return to versed and dilaudid for sedation management.

Hudson has also developed a right-sided pleural effusion — fluid around the lung. We are praying the Lasix will be enough to resolve it. If the fluid does not improve, doctors may need to place a chest tube. We are asking specifically for his body to respond so that step won’t be necessary, and that his blood pressure remains stable through it all.

Because a PICC line attempt was unsuccessful today, the team is now determining the safest alternative for long-term access, which is why a central line is being discussed. It’s overwhelming, but we trust they are making decisions with great care.

This is heavy.
The waiting.
The uncertainty.
The constant balancing act.

I am so ready to see my beautiful, smiling boy again — the one who lights up every room and keeps fighting through every storm placed in front of him.

Please continue praying for:
• Successful central line placement
• Protection from infection and clots
• Fluid to come off
• Stable blood pressures
• No need for a chest tube
• Wisdom and clarity for every medical decision

Thank you for carrying Hudson with us.
