At just six years old, Kyra Rice is fighting a battle most adults would struggle to comprehend.
Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2025, Kyra’s world — and her family’s — changed in an instant. In September 2025, she underwent brain surgery. By December, she had begun chemotherapy. Since then, her days have been filled with hospital visits, specialist appointments, medications, and procedures no child should have to endure.
Yet through it all, Kyra continues to show a level of courage that leaves everyone around her in awe.
To help her body stay strong during treatment, Kyra now uses a nasogastric feeding tube to maintain proper nutrition. It’s one more reminder of how intense this journey has been — and how resilient she continues to be.
As medical bills mounted and travel costs increased, an official GoFundMe campaign was created by Eileen Vogel on behalf of Kyra’s mother, Kashiya Rice. The fundraiser is helping cover critical expenses, including hospital bills, transportation to appointments, medical supplies, and basic household needs such as rent. So far, more than $12,700 has been raised — a testament to the kindness of strangers and the power of community.
In a heartfelt statement, Kashiya shared:
“I want to sincerely thank every single person who donates, shares, prays, or supports us in any way. Asking for help does not come easily to me, but this journey has taught me to put my pride aside and lean on others during this incredibly trying time.”
It’s a sentiment many families facing medical crises understand all too well. When the unthinkable happens, pride fades — and community becomes everything.
Kyra’s story is not just about illness. It’s about strength in the smallest of warriors. It’s about a mother’s humility and courage. And it’s about the reminder that even in the darkest seasons, compassion can shine brightly.
No child should have to fight this hard. But as Kyra continues her treatments, she does so surrounded by prayers, support, and the hope of countless people cheering her on.
Because in the hardest moments, it helps to know you’re not alone.
