SAT . A Week Ago, They Were Praying for His Life. Today, Hunter Is Smiling — and Fighting for His Future.

Hunter is all smiles this morning.

From his hospital room, just days after a terrifying arterial bleed rushed him back into emergency surgery, the scene looks very different than it did last week. He’s sitting up now. Baseball cap turned backward. One hand carefully wrapped. The other stretched out as nurses gently clean and exercise each finger.

There’s a wound vac.
There are bandages.
There’s bruising that tells a painful story.

But there’s also a grin that says even more.

Hunter’s right-hand dressing change went smoothly today. No new bleeding. Pain is manageable. And most importantly — movement has already begun. Nurses are carefully stretching his fingers, working against stiffness before his next surgery scheduled for Monday.

Just one week ago, loved ones were praying for his survival.

Today, they’re watching him fight for function.

This milestone comes only weeks after Hunter narrowly survived a near-electrocution during an ice storm — injured while trying to help others in dangerous conditions. What followed has been a relentless journey of surgeries, setbacks, and strength.

Progress doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes, it looks like small movements. Steady breathing. And a smile that refuses to disappear.

Hunter still has a long road ahead. But this morning, hope is sitting right there beside him — in every stretched finger and every quiet victory.

Take a moment to say 👋 to Hunter in the comments and send him your well wishes. He’s still fighting — and your encouragement means more than you know. 🙏
