SAT. Two months after her lineman husband was killed on the job, his baby was born.

And that’s where this story stops feeling like tragedy — and begins to feel like something else entirely.

Kyle Ferree died on November 6, 2025, in a work-related accident in Louisville. He was a husband, a father, and a lineman — a man known for his work ethic and his devotion to his family.

He left behind his pregnant wife, Hunter, and their two young daughters: Everly, 3, and Anderson, just 1.

Kyle was a proud girl dad. He adored his daughters. But he often talked about one dream still waiting — someday having a son.

Nearly two months after his death, on the morning of her scheduled induction, Hunter stood getting ready and spoke out loud.

“I need you to send me a sign today,” she said. “Something big enough so I know that was you.”

Every medical test had indicated she was carrying their third daughter.

But labor quickly turned complicated. Doctors rushed Hunter into an emergency C-section. She was placed under general anesthesia.

When she woke up, her sister leaned over her hospital bed and asked a question Hunter never expected to hear:

“Do you want to meet your baby boy?”

A boy.

Kyle’s boy.

His name is Brooks.

He was healthy. Strong. And, family says, he looks just like his dad.

Kyle never got the chance to hold his son. Never got to kiss him goodnight. Never got to take him hunting — something he had talked about so many times.

But in the middle of unimaginable loss, this family says that moment felt bigger than coincidence.

It felt like a gift — placed gently inside grief.

As Hunter now raises three young children on her own, including the son her husband always hoped for, one question remains:

If you could say something to her — what would you want her to know? 💙
