LDL. URGENT: DJ DANIEL’S CONDITION RAPIDLY WORSENING
Hunter Alexander is once again in the Intensive Care Unit after doctors encountered new complications during his latest surgery — another reminder of how fragile and uncertain his recovery remains.
After the operation, surgeons were able to remove the wound vacuum from Hunter’s right arm and decided not to perform a skin graft at this time. Instead, they applied Restarta Matrix powder to help the wound heal and wrapped the arm, which will remain protected for about a week.
However, his left arm remains the most serious concern.
During debridement, the tissue was found to be extremely fragile. His ulnar artery suffered a 5mm erosion tear, requiring a single suture. Because of the risk to circulation, doctors made the decision to transfer Hunter back to the ICU so his pulse and blood flow could be monitored around the clock.
The vascular surgeon, Dr. Darvish, explained that if any signs of bleeding appear, Hunter will immediately undergo an angiogram. For now, his pulses are strong, and the wound vacuum remains in place on his left arm.
Hunter is experiencing significant pain, and his care team has adjusted his medications to keep him as comfortable as possible. His muscle relaxer and gabapentin have been increased, and his pain medications were changed. He has also received his blood pressure medication and a one-time dose of IV Tylenol.
There is a bright spot in the midst of concern:
At 4:00 a.m., Hunter’s CK level dropped to 159, allowing doctors to discontinue that test, a sign that his muscle damage is improving.
The trauma team, led by Dr. Chapman, continues to follow his progress closely. An orthopedic update is still pending.
As Hunter settles back into the ICU, he is being closely cared for by his nurse, Megan, who his family says has been wonderful.
Though exhausted and in pain, Hunter remains determined. His family asks for continued prayers as he faces the next steps in his long journey toward healing.
