SAT . A Toddler’s Fight for Life, and the Power of Shared Faith

Two-year-old Wesson nearly lost his life during the brutal winter storm after coming into contact with a downed power line behind his home.

In an instant, everything changed.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, fighting to revive him. Within minutes, Wesson was airlifted to LSU Shreveport — a hospital that would soon become the center of his fight for survival.

For days, machines breathed for him. His parents, Zan and Kaitlyn, could only watch, pray, and wait.

Then came a moment of hope.

Wesson was extubated, and for the first time since the accident, the hospital room filled with laughter again. A sound his family feared they might never hear.

But recovery is rarely a straight line.

Wesson is now battling adenovirus, running persistent fevers, and dealing with fluid on his lungs. Doctors are focused on one thing right now: helping his small body heal, one step at a time.

What makes Wesson’s story even more powerful is where it’s unfolding.

In the very same hospital, lineman Hunter Alexander — the man so many have been praying for after suffering devastating injuries while restoring power — is also recovering.

After everything Hunter and his family have endured, they made a heartfelt request of their own:

Please pray for Wesson, too.

It’s one family’s pain reaching out to lift another — a reminder that even in unimaginable hardship, compassion still finds a way.

As Wesson continues to fight, his parents are holding tightly to their faith and the kindness of strangers. With mounting medical bills and an uncertain road ahead, they believe God is in control — and they’re asking others to believe with them.

Tonight, many are asking the same question:

What would you say to parents watching their toddler fight so hard to live?

Sometimes, the answer isn’t words at all — but prayers, shared hope, and the simple reminder that they are not alone.
