SAT . Another Step Forward: Hunter Scheduled for Additional Surgery as Doctors Assess Readiness for Skin Grafting

Hunter’s recovery continues to move forward as the medical team adjusts plans to respond to his healing progress.
Today, the orthopedic team stopped by, led by Dr. Debevec, to evaluate Hunter and outline the next steps in his treatment. As a result of that assessment, Hunter is now scheduled for another irrigation and debridement procedure tomorrow morning. The surgery had previously been planned for Thursday, but physicians determined that moving it up would be in Hunter’s best interest.

During the procedure, surgeons will carefully examine the condition of the muscles and surrounding tissues. If the tissue appears healthy enough, doctors may begin the skin grafting process on select areas of Hunter’s left arm — an important milestone in his long road to recovery.
At this time, the team does not plan to perform any procedures on Hunter’s right hand tomorrow. Doctors want to keep the current dressing intact and allow the Restarta matrix powder to remain in place for several more days, giving the area additional time to heal without disruption.
While each surgery brings its own challenges, it also represents progress — a step closer to stability, healing, and restoration. The family continues to lean on faith and the expertise of Hunter’s care team, grateful for every careful decision made along the way.
They ask for continued prayers and positive thoughts as Hunter heads back to the operating room tomorrow morning, hopeful for strong tissue, successful outcomes, and steady healing ahead. 🙏
