SAT . Late Night Update: A Quiet Moment for Hunter After a Long Day

As the evening slowly comes to a close, the room around Hunter has finally grown a little quieter — a rare pause after another emotionally and physically demanding day.

With the help of a few thoughtful nurses, Hunter was surprised with Wingstop delivered by DoorDash. It may seem like a small thing, but tonight, that warm meal meant comfort, normalcy, and a reminder of life beyond hospital walls. A full belly, the TV softly playing in the background, and a few calm moments to breathe — those little wins matter here.

Medically, the night remains an important one. Hunter’s pain level is currently holding at 5 to 6, a constant presence but manageable under close care. His wound vac drainage is moderate, and doctors are continuing to monitor him carefully.

Throughout the night, the medical team will perform hourly Doppler checks on his ulnar pulse — an essential step to ensure proper blood flow and healing. Because of these checks, real sleep will be hard to come by. Even rest, right now, is something that has to wait.

Still, despite the discomfort and interruptions, Hunter remains steady. His strength shows not in big moments, but in the quiet ones — enduring the long nights, trusting the process, and holding on to hope when exhaustion sets in.

Hunter and his family want to take a moment to thank everyone who lifted him up in prayer today. Every message, every kind word, every thought sent his way has been felt more than you know.

Before settling in for the night, Hunter asked us to pass along a message to all of you who’ve been walking this journey with him:

“Goodnight, y’all.” 🤍

Tonight, we rest where we can — and keep watching, hoping, and believing.
