sat . First Look at Hunter’s Hands Reveals the Harsh Reality of His Fight

We are now getting our first real look at Hunter’s hands — and the images tell a story that is both heartbreaking and hopeful.

The photos were taken after multiple emergency surgeries on the hands of a 24-year-old lineman who was violently electrocuted while restoring power to help others during a winter storm. Doctors have been working around the clock to save his hands, but the damage is severe.

This is not an easy chapter for anyone to witness — especially for the family living it in real time.

Out of respect, the area of greatest concern has been blurred in one of the images. That specific section is what doctors are watching most closely as they fight to avoid amputation. Every hour matters.

Hunter’s father, Daren, shared critical context behind the photos:

“These are some immediately after the injury pics from 1/25 to 1/31 — after fasciotomy surgery on 1/26 and another irrigation and debridement surgery on 1/28 of his right hand.
We haven’t seen his left arm or hand yet, but the damage was profoundly worse. That’s evident from what I saw immediately after the injury, what surgeons have told us, the amount of wound vac drainage pulled daily, and the amount of pain Hunter is in.”

The fight is far from over.

Doctors remain cautiously hopeful, but nothing is guaranteed. Recovery is being measured day by day, hour by hour.

And yet — through the pain, the uncertainty, and the waiting — Hunter is still Hunter.

A son.
A husband.
And an uncle.

This week, he received a special visit from his young nephew, Henry, bringing a moment of light into a very heavy place.

“Lots of visitors today,” Daren wrote. “I watched Hunter smile and eat it up. Thank all of y’all for your love, support, food, snacks — everything.”

If you have a moment, please say a prayer for Hunter.

And if you could leave him one message —
what would you want him to hear as he keeps fighting? 🤍
